Happy Friday!! Midsummer is upon us, and we hope you are enjoying your summer as much as we are enjoying ours.
Today we are going to talk about the future.
CBD Grows Up
CBD has come of age. The number of adult users in the US has risen from 18% in 2021 to 25% in 2022. 50% of US adults say that they have heard of CBD. It is pretty much everywhere. As we have discussed many times in the past this is not necessarily a good thing.
Many of the CBD products out there are pretty meh, at best. Many of the products out there are in fact white label products. What does that mean? It means that there are larger CBD companies that sell premade CBD products without a label. The buyer then puts their own label on the bottle with their brand and logo.
Essentially it is a branding and marketing exercise. Many of the brand owners have less than zero idea of what goes into their product. Now imagine that you have 30-40 different brands using the same white label group. That means that no matter how sexy the branding is or how compelling the brand story is the product itself is not unique.
At the end of the day, you just do not know for sure what you are getting more than 90% of the time. People are starting to realize this and there is a slow but steady movement towards higher quality products. The age of quality CBD is arriving.
What Makes Quality?
This is something that we have discussed a great deal in the past. The key indicators of quality are the efficacy of the product, or how well the product works. Then there is the consistency of the product experience, does the product work the same every time. And finally, there is how the product is made. Does it use high quality ingredients? Are the ingredients sourced from reliable suppliers, etc.
So how does a company guarantee all three requirements? It starts with organic ingredients. Starting at the very root of the process with organically sourced hemp. From that step forward it is a matter of personal choice how closely a company will adhere to the organic pathway.
In a perfect world you would follow the path all the way to the end with USDA Certified Organic CBD oils. We have chosen to go down this path with our new soon to be released USDA Certified Organic Sleep Tincture that has been made with solvent free full spectrum organic CBD distillate.
The process used to make the distillate is a proprietary technology that retains the full plant profile in the extract. This means it provides the best of what the plant has to offer in regard to terpenes, flavonoids, and minor cannabinoids such as CBG, CBN, CBC, CBT, THCv and so on.
In short you don’t panic when its organic because once it goes organic you know that the product is legally required to be of certain quality. The more organic, the better.
Another way to ensure quality is to ensure the consistency of the experience and the efficacy of the product at the same time. The ol’ ‘two birds with one stone’ trick. How do you do it? Its very simple in a kind of complicated and sciencey kind of way. You go nano.
I am not going to get into the details because I barely understand them myself. The short version is that you take regular CBD distillate, and you break the molecules down into smaller, like really, really small parts called nano particles. So small that there are more than 100,000 tiny little oil droplets per square centimeter. The particles are then suspended in a water-based emulsification, making the CBD water-soluble.
But what does it all mean? It means that the CBD will be more easily absorbed into your body. More easily and more quickly. Like a lot more quickly. Like up to 20x faster than a regular CBD edible product. It also means the CBD will be more efficiently absorbed into your body allowing up 90% of the CBD to be absorbed. This is in comparison to the usual 10% absorption rate found in CBD oils
The end result is that products containing water soluble CBD nano particles will be incredibly stable due to the science. It has a consistency of experience that is unbeatable. It also means that the efficacy or effectiveness of the product is significantly increased. The bioavailability or the amount of CBD that your body can absorb is also increased. The water-soluble product will take effect in 5-10 minutes and your body will be able to absorb up to 90% of the CBD in the product.
